Home Lab Setup ▼

Built a WireGuard-based Zero Trust Gateway between a Debian home server and cloud VPS with a Bash script for rapid re-keying and VPS reprovisioning in case of compromise. Designed a Cisco 2960 VLAN segmentation lab with inter-VLAN ACLs, trunking, and STP security mechanisms to demonstrate CCNA-level concepts. Set up centralized logging using rsyslog with weekly Logwatch HTML email reports, reducing log noise by 60% through custom filters. Deployed Fail2ban intrusion detection with Slack alerts for SSH and WireGuard, achieving near real-time notifications and high accuracy using custom regex for ban triggers.

WireGuard Zero‑Trust Gateway: Deployed WireGuard tunnel between Debian home server and cloud VPS; exposed only a random non-standard port for UDP. Wrote Bash script to re‑key peers and auto‑provision a fresh VPS in <5min after compromise. Verified isolation with Nmap scans; all inbound ports except WireGuard reported closed/filtered.

Additionally, I installed and secured MySQL database servers, created SQL queries, and managed user roles and permissions in accordance with data security best practices.
